Here is an album that we really enjoyed listening and appreciated the music and the performance of the band. An immediate throwback to the realness and tradition of the electric Blues idiom of
the 60s and the Rhythm & Blues golden age, The Blues Way is the project that gives the start to SirJo Cocchi & Balta Bordoy’s journey together and that has already stirred enthusiastic responses both with their duo and quartet performances. SirJo dynamic vocals, piano playing and Balta’s raw and true guitar sound finally connected on their debut album Heads Up!, recently recorded with
their quartet in Barcelona. The recording was mixed and mastered by the renowned producer/guitarist Kid Andersen and features special guests Vìctor Puertas on harmonica and Nil Mujal on tenor sax. SirJo and Balta originally met and started collaborating in Mallorca (Balta’s home) in 2016 and this project is the fruit of the seed that was planted on that magical island.

Accompanying SirJo and Balta in Heads Up! is a tight and experienced rhythm section that has been playing together for years, consisting of Santi Ursul on bass and Micky Izquierdo on drums. The recording and the electrifying live performances succeed in capturing that traditonal, raw and essential sound that made us love those 60’s Otis Rush and Little Milton’s records and that convey the direct and honest energy of the Blues. For SirJo Cocchi and Balta Bordoy this album is the start of a collaboration that will bring a lot of good and organic music fruits for years to come.

Al Stewart – Year Of The Cat

Year Of The Cat is one of those ’70s albums that manages to strike the perfect balance between folk, rock, pop and a sophisticated singer-songwriter aesthetic. Released in 1976, it was Al Stewart’s big commercial breakthrough, but above all, the point where his unique songwriting acquired the sound that suited it perfectly. Alan Parsons played a decisive role in this, in production. His work is not limited to a clean […]

Thin Lizzy – Live And Dangerous

Live And Dangerous is not just one of the greatest live albums of the 70s, it is perhaps the most complete portrayal of Thin Lizzy as a live rock band. Released in June 1978 as a double album, it brings together recordings from concerts in London, Philadelphia and Toronto, produced by Tony Visconti. And here lies the great paradox: the album is considered “live”, but it is not a completely raw […]

Frank Zappa – Zappa In New York

Zappa In New York is not just another live Frank Zappa album. It is a musical document that captures the creator in his most explosive and creative period, when the stage was the ideal field to combine his virtuosity, improvisation, caustic satire and subversive humor. The recordings took place at the Palladium in New York in December 1976, but the album was finally released in 1978, after Zappa's disputes with […]
