It was released on 7 March 1980 by Columbia Records and reissued with bonus tracks in 2002 by Columbia\/Legacy.<br \/><br \/>The original LP released in the UK had nine tracks. The US LP contained 10 tracks, deleting one track from the UK LP, &#8220;Blacks\/Radio&#8221;, and adding two others, &#8220;Susan&#8217;s Strange&#8221; and &#8220;Soap Commercial&#8221;, and significantly changing the track order. The CD reissue contained 13 tracks, starting with the original nine UK LP tracks, arranged in their original order, then adding the two additional tracks from the US LP version, as well as a version of &#8220;Mack The Knife&#8221; and a demo of the album track &#8220;Flowers&#8221;.<br \/><br \/>Rolling Stone magazine in a review had said that the Psychedelic Furs&#8217; sound is a cross between the sound of Roxy Music and David Bowie and they really shine on this album. The music here is as if it was made for the sake of music, artistically and completely honestly.<br \/><br \/>For the uninitiated, the Psychedelic Furs are a volatile combination between Magazine, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Sex Pistols, with Richard Butler being the singer that everyone will love in the group. A wobbly Bowie voice that can charm, with a monotonous direction that sends you home with its ironic thunderous echo and with the band all the time emitting a bright veil of pulsating sound. It&#8217;s a work in progress that can be considered fully completed rather than in progress, with Butler&#8217;s voice, as we said, the ragged saxophone and the stiff guitar, characteristic of the Furs, all sounding in place.<br \/><br \/>The album makes a wonderful atmospheric opening with the track &#8220;India&#8221; and continues with the confident &#8220;Sister Europe&#8221;. &#8220;Wedding Song&#8221; and &#8220;Fall&#8221; are tracks on the other hand that have a manic energy. Of the bonus tracks, the best is the characteristic cover by Mac The Knife.<br \/><br \/>The Psychedelic Furs is truly a fantastic album that shows how the Furs were pioneers, like the Cure, who bridged the gap between Post Punk \/ New Wave and what is known as Indie. Even today the album sounds as strong as it did in the early 80s, from a truly original band that should have received more accolades than it has.<br \/><br \/>From this excellent album I select the song &#8220;Sister Europe&#8221;.<br \/>\u2003<br \/><strong>Tracklist<\/strong><br \/><br \/>1.
